Sightseeing
Punnamada Kayal
The annual Nehru Trophy Boat Race takes place here and it is therefore natural to expect this place to be a tourist hub. Every year in August and September, the backwaters are crowded with the spectators and the participants alike. The long boats that resemble a snake, have a capacity of having 120 people on board in two rows of 60 each.

Ambalapuzha Temple
Here Lord Krishna is the presiding deity who is offered Palapayasam, an offering made of milk.

Mullackal Temple
This temple is situated in the centre of the town and is dedicated to the Goddess Rajrajeshwari.

Kottamkulangara Mahavishnu Temple and Devi Temple
These are the oldest temples of Alappuzha where you should specially make it a point to visit during the festivals.
