seems difficult being home to the endangered life forms and species. Not
with Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, as the place encompasses within its lap
some enchanting animals like tigers, elephants, spotted deer, turtles,
cobras, black eagles etc. The vegetation family comprises dry deciduous
forests, thorny scrub forests and wet grasslands. The topography which
includes some rocky areas give rise to some breathtaking landscapes within
the sanctuary.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is from December to
April. If you cannot schedule your trip at this time, then you can visit
here anytime during the year apart from the months of October and November.
It'll be better if you can roam around in Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary in the
early part of the day.
Climate
There are some extreme changes in the climate as well as the vegetation of
the area because the altitude of the area varies from 500 to 2400 meters
within a distance of a few kilometers only. The place falls under the rain
shadow region of the Western Ghats therefore it gets only 48 dates of rain
every year.

The Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport which is about 150
km away from Munnar and 200 km away from the . The railway stations that are
close to the sanctuary are Ernakulam, Aluva and Pollachi. The place is well
connected by a good road network with the major cities.

There are government guesthouses at Udumalpetta and Munnar where you can
stay while you explore the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. There are other
private lodges at the place as well which provide good facilities to the
tourists.
