St Francis Church
It was built in 1503 and therefore it has the distinction of being the
oldest European church in India. The remains of Vasco Da Gama were buried

The traders from Kublai Khan's court brought these huge cantilevered nets
to India. These nets still draw and fascinate the tourists from all over the

Mattancherry Palace
The palace was built by the Portuguese in 1557 and was gifted to the then
king of Cochin Raja Veera Kerala Varma. It was later renovated by the Dutch
in 1663. The palace is also famous for the mural paintings that depict the
scenes from ancient Indian epic Ramayana.
Kalady
It is the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya, who was the first philosopher
to propagate and consolidate the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta.
