
Known
as Queen of the Arabian Sea, Kochi is a cluster of island on the bank of
Vemband lake.Some of these picturesque islands are Bolgatty, Vypeen, Gundu
and Vallarpadam. All the islands that make up Kochi are well connected by
Ferry.
The Arabs, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch and the British have all left their
mark here. The Jewish synagogue, the Dutch palace, the Chinese fishing nets,
and other remnants of European and Asian architecture merge smoothly into
the traditional fabric of the seaport city. Elathur, the Canoli Canal and
the Kallai River are favourite places for boating Kadalundi, with its
beautiful bird sanctuary is a charming site. Korapuzha, the venue of the
Korapuzha Jalotsavam (water fiesta) is fast becoming a popular water sport
destination.
Places to visit in Kochi
Dutch Palace:
It is situated on Bolghatty island. Orginally made by Portugese and now
being used as a hotel.
Jewish Synagoge
The Synagoge ,magnificently decorated by Chinese tiles and Belgian
Chandeliers, built in 1568.
Fort Kochi Beach
Long strolls along the beach and sailing ships makes it an ultimate resort
to visit.
St. Francis Beach
It is the oldest Chuech built by the European in India.
