About Aymanam Village
Backwater Resort
The moment you arrive here the scenic backwaters countryside of the place
greet you gently. You realize that these backwaters also touch Kumarakom, a
famous vacation destination. The noted author Arundhati Roy's famous book God
of Small Things had the place as its backdrop. The resort is an
ancestral home therefore the architecture also is traditional as expected.
Location
The Ayamanam Village is located at Valiad which is only 9 km away from
Kottayam town. It is located on the soothing banks of Meenachil Rivers which
flow towards the Vembanad Lake at Kumarakom.
Sightseeing
Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary
Located on the banks of Vembanad Lake, the place plays host to many rare
migratory birds which come from various parts of the world. A cruise on the
backwaters gives you the best view of the birds in the area.
Ayyapara
It is believed that Pandavas of Mahabharata stayed near this rock when they
were in exile. The place gets its name from the temple of Lord Ayappa
located here.
Vembanad Lake
Though we call it a lake, it is a network of rivers and canals which are
intermingled with each other. Almost all the rivers join each other here
which makes it ideal place for recreational activities. The tourism
potential of the place is immense and efforts are being made to tap into it.
Lodging
During your stay you can choose from well appointed air conditioned as well
as non air conditioned rooms and cottages. The backwaters are so
intermingled with the fabric of the resort that parts of backwater canals
literally flow through some part of Aymanam Village Backwater Resort.
