Taste the natural mountain water which flows from the natural springs of the area. Seeing the wild animals and riding atop an elephant are what make these vacations worthwhile. Take a walk in the nearby plantations in the morning so that you can find out how cardamom is grown and how vanilla is pollinated. The hostess also conducts cooking classes here where you can learn the finer points of how traditional Kerala recipes are prepared.

Periyar Tiger Reserve
This sanctuary is only 11 km away from the Canaan valley and is the most popular sanctuary of South India. Take the boat route if you want to watch the wild animals from close quarters.
