Peechi Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the Thrissur district of Kerala. The sanctuary was established in 1958, covering an area of 125 sq km. It is a part of the Palapilli Nelliampathy forests. The dense forests of the sanctuary are haven to numerous wildlife species. Sanctuary is an ideal place for nature lover's and wildlife enthusiasts as one can explore variety of wildlife consisting many rare species of flora, fauna and avifauna.

FloraThe dense forests of sanctuary comprises of moist deciduous and semi-evergreen trees. The sanctuary boasts a rich variety of flora, one can discover more than 60 varieties of plants such as teakwood, orchids, rosewood, irul, thenmavu, venteak, kalpine, whiteakil etc. along with some rare species of medicinal plants.

Peechi Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary attracts thousands of wildlife lovers from every pocket of the world and offers them an ambiance filled with immense beauty and tranquility. The sanctuary is haven to wide spectrum of fauna species including Tiger, Leopards, Sambar, Fox, Wild Dogs, Bison, Barking Deer, Spotted Deer, Elephants and many more. Visitors can also spot more than 10 types of snakes.
Tourist Activities
Boating : Besides the flora and fauna at the sanctuary, one can also enjoy boat ride at the Lake. It is truly a wonderful experience to sail through the lush green forests and admire the beauty of nature.
Trekking : The place is also congenial for trekking. The hilly terrains of Ponmudi peak is in close proximity to the sanctuary. Situated at an altitude of 923 m, its is an ideal place for trekkers and to have a panoramic view of the sanctuary.
