About Lake Palace
The Lake Palace used to be a summer palace which has now been converted into a wildlife heritage hotel. It is situated on a peninsula in the Periyar Lake amidst the Periyar forest. The Lake Palace is just right for a vacation after a hectic work schedule because you are not going to experience any noise or any other kind of pollution in the serene environment of the forest where only sound that you'll hear will be that of the birds and some other animals.

The animals as well as the vegetation never stop stunning you at Thekkady and the resort only introduces you to the hub of nature known as Thekkady. You'll be thrilled to be amidst dense forests and in fact the nature itself while you stay at Lake Palace.

Location
Lake Palace Resort is located ideally within the sanctuary which affords you unmatched scenic views of the nearby wild areas. The nearest airports are Madurai and Kochi which take about 3.5 and 6 hours respectively to reach by road. Kottayam is the nearest railhead which takes about 4.5 hours to reach. Kumily is the nearest bus terminal which is about 4 km away.

Sightseeing
Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary
It is among the most captivating wildlife reserves which was declared a tiger reserve in 1978. The artificial lake formed within the park contributes to the beauty of the park. The park is specially known for its unique boat safari where you can view the wild animals from close quarters from the safety of your boat.

Sanctuary Watch Towers
For observing wildlife there are myriad different ways and the sanctuary watch towers are one of them. There are three such towers, although you have to reserve these in advance if you want to make use of these.

Kumily
It is located only 4 km away from Thekkady, on the periphery of the wildlife sanctuary and is a plantation town. It is also a shopping as well as a spice trade centre and the main bus stand of the area.
