Location
It is located at Vythiri in Wayanad district and is accessible of all parts
of Kerala. The Stream Valley Cottages are located at Lakkidi which is 282 km
from Bangalore and 60 km from Calicut. Kozhikode is the nearest airport (82
km) whereas Kochi is the nearest International Airport (285 km). Kozhikode
is also the nearest railway station (60 km).
Sightseeing
Pookote Lake
It is now well developed as a recreational centre where boating facilities,
children's park also are provided. The lake is surrounded by natural
evergreen forests which makes it an ideal picnic spot.
Banasura Sagar Dam
It is believed that it is the largest earth dam in India. When the dam
submerged the area, some portion of it was left over the surface of water
which formed the islands that are interesting portion of the place.
Muthanga Wildlife
It
is a Project Elephant Wildlife site and comes under Nilgiri Biosphere
region. The major animals which can be seen here are Leopards, Gaur, Barking
Deer, Langur and Slender Loris.
Kuruva Islands
These islands are located in the midst of river Kabani. These are three
islands in total and the main one has a fresh water lake as well.
Fooding and Lodging
Fooding
The place is mostly known for its outdoor dining experience in the day as
well as in th night under the stars. If you've had enough of the regular
dining, then you can head towards the barbecue.
Lodging
Here you are provided spacious accommodation in the Stream Valley Cottages,
Wayanad. The cottages have been built on stilts and have thatched roofs and
are set right in front of the natural setting of streams and thick forests.
All the cottages have kitchenettes, spacious bedrooms, living rooms etc
provided with the accommodation.
